  • Review your chosen settings and tap Done to finalize your configuration.

Viewing Your Sleep Data

Scroll down until you locate the Sleep section. Here, you will find a summary of your sleep data, which includes your average bedtime, wake-up time, and total time spent in bed. For more detailed insights into your sleep patterns, tap on Show All Data, where you can view analysis charts and trends.

View Your Respiratory Rate

With the Apple Watch Series 3 or later equipped with WatchOS 8, you have the capability to measure and monitor your Respiratory Rate.2 By enabling Track Sleep with Apple Watch, your device will automatically assess and log the frequency of your breaths per minute while you wear it to bed.

To access your Respiratory Rate, launch the Health app on your iPhone or iPad. If you are using an iPhone, select Browse at the bottom of the screen. For iPad users, tap the sidebar to reveal the menu. Select Respiratory, followed by tapping on Respiratory Rate.

Enhance the Accuracy of Your Results With Your Apple Watch

If you paired your Apple Watch after setting up Sleep, you can still activate Track Sleep with Apple Watch. Next, enable Track Sleep with Apple Watch to activate this feature. To ensure the most precise results while wearing your watch during sleep:

Enable Charging Reminders. On your iPhone, access the Watch app, tap the My Watch tab, and then select Sleep. Activate Charging Reminders to receive a notification on your Apple Watch to charge it prior to your Wind Down period.

If the battery of your watch depletes, it will not be able to track your sleep data. Ensure that your Apple Watch is fitted comfortably. A loose fit may cause the accelerometer to detect excessive movement during your natural sleep.

What Does the Apple Watch Measure Overnight?

The current Apple Watches come equipped with a Sleep app that estimates the duration of time you spend in REM, core sleep, and deep sleep, provided you wear your device while you sleep.
